Color Tulsa With Your Creativity

Now more than ever, community service is being valued. Your volunteers for the organization can receive credit for the work that they do. I am an advisor for Tulsa Community College as well as the founder of Tulsa Creative Network and I am seeing a big influx of students who are needing community service. These students will need hours that can be directly related to your organizations goals. If you are a non-profit organization, please follow this link.

Special Interest Groups are forming to explore the unique qualities of your organizations' demands for your volunteer programs. In January, Volunteer Central presented "Volunteer Administration in the School Setting." (Thanks to Jenks and Broken Arrow Public Schools for presenting your outstanding programs!) This school-specific group will meet in June to continue sharing and learning from each other and special guests.

Youth services, arts, and health care are some of the organizations that face interesting challenges in fulfilling your missions through volunteers. Call 918.447.1888 today or email to begin planning your group!

RECRUITING YOUNG VOLUNTEERS

When volunteering becomes a natural part of a child’s life at an early age,
it adds an important dimension to the process of growing up
and, ultimately, shapes the adult that child becomes.
Neither schoolwork nor salaried jobs teach citizenship
in the hands-on way that volunteering does.

Volunteer Central works to make volunteerism an active part of everyone’s life, including young people. Training opportunities for youth volunteers include topics such as risk identification and management, volunteer etiquette, and confidence building.

Even with training and best intentions, these youth volunteers can only serve if you let them in the front door of your organization. Look at your volunteer opportunities and consider incorporating young volunteers into your program.

Volunteer Central can help you create opportunities for young volunteers.

We have prepared a guidebook to help you welcome youth volunteers into your organization. You may download a copy of “Quick-Read Guide to Using Children & Youth as Volunteers” or call 918.447.1888 for your free copy.
